National Engineers Week is an annual event to raise public awareness about engineering and the contributions that engineers make to society. It is also a time for engineers to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills. In particular, it provides a time to:
- Celebrate how engineers make a difference in our world
- Increase public dialogue about the need for engineers
- Bring engineering to life for kids, educators, and parents
Engineers Week was founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). It is among the oldest of America’s professional engineering outreach efforts.
In concert with more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies, the Chattanooga Area of Tennessee officially opens Engineers Week with a Kick-off Luncheon on Monday, February 20, 2022 at the UTC University Center. It will be followed on Thursday, February 23 with the traditional Awards Banquet. Both events are open to the public.
