Event Description:
It takes a unique blend of experience and leadership to be extremely effective in improving the leadership culture within any organization. This is done through a fine balance of education, evaluation, coaching and respect for all those involved. Charlie refers to this as his “3-Legged Stool” and he has proven that any organization who builds a strong 3-legged stool, will see a great decrease in injuries, insurance claims, OSHA citations and lawsuits. Charlie’s passion for teaching organizations how to build this stool has positively impacted every organization he works with by maintaining respectful, working relationships with employees and management alike.
Charlie York has been involved in many different aspects of leadership throughout his career. He has filled the billet of a variety of positions from apprentice to an owner of an organization in his 25 + years in steel construction. Charlie’s general construction experience has included the responsibilities of a steel fabricator, steel erector, drafter, project estimator, project coordinator, general manager, and vice president. During that time Charlie was also involved with many aspects of general industry in steel manufacturing. He has been exposed to leadership challenges associated with small unit leadership right on through to large complex construction projects in the chemical industry – from the conceptual level of construction projects to project completion. In addition to these responsibilities he was also leading Marines in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. As a First Sergeant, he served in a variety of leadership roles and he eventually retired from the Marine Corps as a veteran of the Gulf War after twenty-one years of dedicated service.
